Many people enjoy Somatics due to its empowering effect of becoming active and independent in their own process of rehabilitation, health & wellness. This in contrary to the often passive and dependent approach of existing services offered within our current health care system. By moving gently, pain free and with developed awareness you will learn to isolate and control your own muscles. Somatics is very easy to understand and requires very little financial investment. You will be taught a life skill that will stay with you wherever you are, no matter if you were receiving an individual session at the office or if you were enjoying a group session or workshop. Somatic Rehabilitation at the Office For
people who have a specific health problem or injury, there is nothing
more powerful as an individual session. Your Somatic Educator will be
able to recognize the reason why you have a health problem or injury,
how to work with that problem, what your potential is, how you can achieve
that potential and how to maintain the improvements throughout your life.
When you have been exposed to any of the following injuries or conditions, Somatic Rehabilitation will be able to assist you in your process of rehabilitation:
Somatic Rehabilitation will not only bring relief to your primary problem, but many of your other ailments will benefit as well.
For many people, this educational process of therapy leads to more freedom and less rigidness. To bring relief, we have to do nothing else but waking up the muscles that have forgotten how it is to fully contract and, more importantly, how it is to fully relax. Stiffness and pain is never experienced in relaxed muscles ! During a session, muscles that have been chronically contracted for many years at a subconscious level will not only release, but will also with minimal effort stay relaxed. The moment your body is exposed again to movement patterns that are easier and more organic for the human body, you will unlearn your inefficient and painful movement patterns. In somatic rehabilitation, many health problems that are still not explained properly by medical science suddenly become recognizable, explainable, predictable and resolvable. A session takes about 1 hour and 15 minutes. During a session, the client doesnt have to undress, just wear comfortable clothing. You will leave with a set of tools (Somatic Explorations) that will maintain your balance within your system throughout your life. The Daily Cat Stretch - Series The Daily Cat Stretch - Series is a routine of movements that can be performed in 10 20 minutes which maintains and increases your muscular control, reversing the daily stresses of our society. The movement patterns are core patterns for successful human existence. Learn this daily routine and more. Wouldn't you like to become limber again, just like a cat !
When interested in advancing further into the field of Somatics, it is often a requirement to be able to perform the Daily Cat Stretch Series independently. The Daily Cat Stretch Series are offered in evening classes or in a 10 or 12 hour (weekend) workshop in your area. All participants will receive a handout.
